Trust Your Instincts

Decisions are sometimes difficult to do because we’re always worried we’ll do the wrong thing. We sometimes go along with what other people think is a good thing even when something inside of us whispers that it’s not right for us.

Jeremiah 17:9 does say, the human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?

Jeremiah 17 says that we shouldn’t put our trust in human strength or thinking and we shouldn’t turn away from the Lord, but if we trust in the Lord and make Him our hope and confidence, our life will bear good fruit.

So, if we’re looking toward the Lord, reading the Bible, and listening for His guidance, shouldn’t we be able to trust some of the thoughts and ideas that come into our hearts and minds?

Yes, our hearts can be deceitful but when we trusted in Christ, we became a new creation with new life coursing through us. So if we are a new creation who has God’s Spirit WITHIN us, we should be able to trust some of our instincts.

We should be able to live our lives out in the Spirit if we read the Bible regularly and let God’s word filter the thoughts of our hearts, THEN we can trust our instincts. <Jennifer Heeren>
